Experts Recommend Natural Testosterone Supplements
Why does a leading lifestyle expert recommend Tongkat Ali Extract supplements?
With degrees in Sports Medicine, Fitness Management, Exercise Science, Nutritional Biochemistry (PhD), and more, Dr. Shawn Talbott sure seems like someone to listen to when it comes to tongkat ali supplement recommendations. He has appeared on The Dr. Oz Show and was featured at The White House as part of the campaign against child obesity (alongside First Lady, Michelle Obama). This is from Dr. Talbott’s bio on his website:
“Dr. Talbott’s research is primarily focused on metabolism, weight loss,
sports nutrition, and human performance with a particular emphasis on
developing interventions to improve ‘Vigor’.”[1]
In 2011, Dr. Talbott appeared on The Dr. Oz Show where he discusses what can happen to our body when we have a low testosterone level.

There are a number of things that can contribute to an individual having low T. Some of these include having a poor diet lacking in vitamins and minerals, absence of exercise, and stress. Click here for more information on the causes of low testosterone levels.
In addition to there being a variety of causes of low testosterone, there are also a variety of symptoms or effects. Some of these symptoms include: low energy or exhaustion, depression, lack of interest in sex, and more. Click here for a more comprehensive list of the symptoms of lower testosterone.
So our diet, lack of adequate exercise, and stress can cause us to have low T, but the question is, what can we do about it?
Here is where Tongkat ali extract comes in.
While having a better diet and regular exercise should seem like obvious changes that we can make, we should also think about supplements.
In an article written for The Dr. Oz Show titled, Improving Biochemical Balance and Energy, Dr. Talbott discusses the benefits of taking Eurycoma longifolia (tongkat ali) as a supplement for low testosterone. He says, “Tongkat ali is a safe and effective natural way to bring testosterone levels back to within normal ranges”.[2]
Dr. Talbott did a study that was published in the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition (2013). The study screened 63 subjects before and after a 4 week period of either receiving tongkat ali supplements or a placebo. The results from the study show that, “significant improvements were found in the TA (tongkat ali) group”. Not only did the researchers find lower tension, anger and confusion in the TA group, but they also found a 37% increase in testosterone levels.[3]Tongkat ali is a safe and effective natural way to bring testosterone levels back to within normal ranges.
In another research article (“Effects of Tongkat Ali on stress hormones and psychological mood state in moderately stressed subjects” – click for more details on this study), Dr. Talbott reviews several other studies that have similar findings. He says, “numerous rodent studies exist demonstrating reduced anxiety and improved sexual performance following tongkat ali feeding, with such effects thought to be due to a restoration of normal testosterone levels”.
The conclusion is made that, “tongkat ali, used for centuries in traditional medicine systems of Southeast Asia for treating lethargy, low libido, depression, and fatigue, appears to have significant potential for restoring hormone balance (cortisol/testosterone) and improving psychological mood state in humans exposed to various modern stressors, including aging, dieting, and exercise stress.”[3] Bottom line, in addition to a healthy diet and regular exercise, he recommends tongkat ali supplementation because of the testosterone boosting properties.
