Natural Testosterone Supplements Research
The International Journal of Phytotherapy and Phytopharmacology published a study titled, “Effects of Eurycoma longifolia Jack on the sexual qualities of middle aged male rats” (2003).
In this study, a group of middle aged rats were administered 0.5 g/kg of Eurycoma longifolia for 12 weeks, while a control group received saline for the same period. The aim of the study was to observe any change in the sexual activity of the animals.
The study states, “Results showed than E. longifolia Jack enhanced the sexual qualities of the middle aged male rats”. This was measured by decreased hesitation time and mounting activities.”[1]
It is of interest to note that one of the researchers on this team was Dr. Hooi-Hoon Ang. In 2003, Dr. Ang was named Pharmacist of the Year by the Malaysian Pharmaceutical Society. During this time, she also held 5 records in the Malaysian Book of Records for being the first Malaysian to receive various degrees and awards. She received one of these records for being named, The Outstanding Young Persons of the World 2001, honoree for the category Scientific & Technology Development. Dr. Ang has hundreds of publications and has her research highlighted in Herbal Medicines: Molecular Basis of Biological Activity and Health (Marcel Dekker Inc., New York, NY 2003).
Another study showing Tongkat Ali Extract increasing sexual activity
In another interesting study, Dr. Ang evaluated sexual arousal in old male rats (24 months of age and retired from breeding). They received E. longifolia Jack for 10 days, while a control group received saline. What is interesting about this study is the fact that the “aphrodisiac effect was monitored by the act of yawning and stretching because yawning, either alone or associated with stretching, is considered an ancestral vestige surviving throughout evolution that promotes sexual arousal”. Who would have thought?
The results of the research showed that 800 mg/kg, of “E. longifolia Jack increased yawning by 50% and stretching by 16.7% in sexually sluggish old male rats, by 676-719% and 31-336%, respectively, in sexually active male rats, and by 22-44% and 75-100%, respectively, in middle aged, 9 months old and retired breeders.
Researchers support the use of Eurycoma longifolia as an aphrodisiac
What does all of this mean? In all age groups (elderly, middle-aged, and young) researchers found that tongkat ali was found to be a sexual stimulant (with a huge increase – 676-719%), with already sexually active subjects. The researchers concluded that they support the use of E. longifoli Jack as an aphrodisiac.[3]
