What Exactly is Goat Weed?
Horny Goat is also called:
- Fairy wings
- Yin yang huo
- Barrenwort
- Rowdy lamb herb
Used for centuries in China, this herb has been used for a large number of ailments. The leaves of the plant are what are used medicinally.
Some uses for Horny Goat include helping with:
- Heart disease
- Bronchitis
- Liver disease
- Polio
- Joint pain
- Mental and physical fatigue
- Memory loss
- High blood pressure
- Bone loss/ weak bones
- Sexual issues – erectile dysfunction and ejaculation problems
There is some research that shows a compound in horny goat that blocks an enzyme that restricts blood flow. This is promising for the treatment of ED. Traditional treatments for ED can have unwanted side effects. Goat weed does not have these side effects and may work better that the traditional treatments.
There don’t seem to be many side effects of taking goat weed. Some people may experience dry mouth or upset stomach.
It has been noted that certain types of goat weed used in high doses for long period of time may cause dry mouth, vomiting, dizziness.
As with most of these testosterone boosting supplements, women who are pregnant or breast feeding should not use this supplement.
